OTU #63 - Merry Christmas! The Music of Trace Bundy

Merry Christmas from OntheU!

A terrific guitarist recently visited the University of Tulsa. His name is Trace Bundy. If you've never heard his music, you should really check him out. He has very graciously given us permission to showcase a couple of songs from his new CD, "A Few Songs for Christmas."

We hope you enjoy this episode and Trace's music. Find more of his music at his website at, or through the iTunes Store.

His performances are almost as much a visual experience as a musical one. There are several YouTube videos on Trace's website that you may enjoy. Here's one to whet your appetite.

Welcome to all those who found OntheU through SQPN! We're very excited to be a part of that terrific family of Catholic podcasts. Our goal is to encourage young adults to know that they can be faithful Catholics, leaders in the Church, and successful college students. We want to be a part of what Pope John Paul II called the "new evangelization."

What will you hear on OntheU? We'll talk about life on campus, life in the Church, and other issues facing college students in this fast moving, increasing on-line world.

We'd love to hear your comments, suggestions and questions. Please email us at ontheu [at] or call our feedback line at +1-918-919-0456, or leave comments on our blog at

This is the 3rd Week of Advent, and it begins with Gaudete Sunday, one of the rare occasions where priests wear pink vestments!

In this episode, we'll give you an update on our horrendous ice storm, discuss Advent and point you to some additional prayer resource on the Creighton University website.

Want to work on your spirituality before Christmas? Check out Creighton's "Praying Advent" website by clicking here.

Check out our suggested list of "Gifts for the College Student." You can't go wrong if you stick to the following broad categories:

  • Professional Clothes (for internships and job interviews!)

We end the show with a discussion of Safe Winter Travel tips from the American Red Cross. For more information, there are suggested items to have in your car by clicking here.

OTU #61 - A Week of Ice, Darkness, Reverence and Kindnesses

On Sunday, December 9th a major ice storm hits Oklahoma, particularly the Tulsa area. Most of town, including the University of Tulsa, lost power. As this episode is published, some areas have been without electricity, light or heat for more than 5 days!

In this episode, Pat and Steve have to relocate in order to record. They discuss the storm and what it has been like trying to survive and take final exams at the same time.

In our "Question of Faith" segment, we talk about the special blessings of attending candlelight Masses and the share reverence of a shared experience.

For "Good News" this week, we hear stories about shared acts of kindness as those with power and heat share with those without.

OTU #60 - Being a Catholic on Campus; A Young Local Hero

We recorded this episode just before a major ice storm hits Tulsa. At this point, we're unaware of the chaos coming our way. As the 2nd Week of Advent comes to a close, the students are finishing up their final exams.

We talk a little bit about Pope Benedict's upcoming visit to the U.S. in April. Keep up with all the action by visiting Catholic University of America's website about his visit by clicking here.

In our "Question of Faith" segment, Pat and Elizabeth talk about their experiences being a Catholic student among non-Catholics on campus.

Our "Good News" of the week is a story about a local youth nominated as a CNN "Hero." Here about all the philanthropic work of Tulsa's own Johnny Crater.

OTU #59 - Advent Calendar; Retreat with the Religious Sisters of Mercy

In this episode we recap last week's simulcast with the Busted Halo Cast. If you haven't checked out their online Advent Calendar, have a look at this link.

Last weekend, we had a terrific mini-retreat led by some of the Religious Sisters of Mercy. They took time from their busy responsibilities at Tulsa's St. Francis Hospital to speak to us about the meaning of Advent.

We had the opportunity to interview Sr. Gilmary and Sr. Mary Rosanna. We hope you enjoy this very interesting talk about their order, religious vocations for women, and the meaning of Advent.

For more information about the Religious Sisters of Mercy, please visit their website at this link.
