OTU #58 - Simulcast with Busted Halo Cast!

Our first ever "simulcast"! At the invitation of the good folks at the Busted Halo Cast, we joined Mike Hayes and Fr. Dave Dwyer for a fun episode via Skype.

Here's what we talked about:

Question: How do we know the bible is true?
Next we tried to stump Fr Dave and Mike with Catholic Trivia.
Pat and Kristin talked about how they are preparing for Advent.
In their "Coming Attractions" segment we got a sneak preview of the Gospel reading for this weekend's First Sunday of Advent.

If you don't know much about Busted Halo, you should check them out, seriously. Just go to You can get a free BustedHalo t-shirt or CD just for calling their listener line with your questions of faith: (917) 591-8476.

OTU #56 - 2007's 'What are you thankful for?'; Family Relations When You Come Home From School

In this episode, we review last week's "Pre-Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner." A great time was had by all!.

We had quite a bit of feedback for our 2nd annual "What are you thankful for?" appeal. We're very thankful for everyone who took the time to tell us about the good things in their lives.

In our "Good Student" segment, we talk about family relations, that is, how to handle the stresses that often occur when you come home from school after a long period. Communication is the key!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, and thanks for listening to "On the U" - the College Catholic podcast.

OTU #54 - Falling Leaves; Saints and Souls; A Monastery Visit

It's finally Fall in Oklahoma and the leaves are beginning to drop. Pat and Steve begin this episode with a walk across campus for coffee on a chilly night.

Last week in the Church we commemorated All Saints and All Souls Days. Throughout the month of November we keep a Book of Remembrance, listing the names of our departed family and friends. We add these people to our list of intentions during each Mass celebrated at the Newman Center.

If you would like to add the name of a deceased loved one to our book, please email us at ontheu [a.t.] and they will be remembered in our Masses.

Last weekend, Pat traveled to St. Benedict's Abbey in Atchison, Kansas to visit his brother Nick, who is a new postulant there. Pat was able to record a little bit during his visit and a short interview with his brother about monastic life. To learn more about St. Benedict's Abbey, click here.

Send us your questions to ontheu [a.t.] or leave a message at our feedback number at +1-918-919-0456. Mike Hayes, host of the BustedHalo Cast, has offered up two copies of his book, Googling God: The Religious Landscape of People in their 20s and 30s, for our listeners. Send us something we can use and we'll put your name in for a drawing for the books.
